A Birthday, a Cat and a Card

Busy week as usual, but possibly a little more busy than usual. It's my youngest son's 9th Birthday tomorrow, which he's getting so excited about. Also our cat, Trixie, is due to have kittens. She's already a few days overdue, based on the date we took a photo of the suspected father (paternity suit evidence), so I'm fully expecting that she'll have them tomorrow, which will make my son's birthday extra special.

The card I have done is for the Sugar Bowl Challenge which is a sketch and has to include buttons. Here's the card.

Wasn't too sure about whether I liked this card until I put the image on and then it all came together. The papers used are Basic Grey Oh Baby! Girl - Lily and Taylor and also English Paper Company Get Groovy. The scrolly part at the top, where the bird is sitting and the pink ric rac pattern are Papermania Felt Ribbon. The flower is from a garland making set which Sainsbury's were selling off after Mother's Day (I like a bargain), with a pink button for the centre. Again a pretty girl from Sugar Nellie's Gorjuss Girls first collection called A Little Birdy Told Me, coloured with watercolours.

Hope you like the card. Off to check on Trixie to see if she's thought about having any little ones whilst I've been doing this blog.

Bye for now.

A Gold Teddy for a Little Girl

Hi Everyone, and this includes my Mum, my Aunty Margaret and my Aunty Barbara (see you're on t'internet now), back after quite a break. Went on holiday to Spring Harvest (a Christian holiday at Butlins in Skegness) and as we all know when you've been on holiday you need a holiday to get over it. Well I couldn't go on holiday again because then I'd need to go on holiday again and so on, you get the meaning, so I've just been tired out at home, not had time nor the energy to make cards or write on this blog. Anyhoo, back now and yesterday I had a good look round at different challenges and found not one, not two but three that I could use to make the card below for a little girl we know who has a birthday this week. The first challenge was a sketch at Stamps and Smiles - The Fresh Batch (Challenge #13- SASSC13). The second challenge was at Papertake Weekly where you are to include Spots and Strips. Last, but not least was at Cute Card Thursday where the challenge is Mirror Mirror which is to use something shiny.

I was so pleased with how this card turned out, especially when I decided to make the teddy out of gold mirriboard, it really stands out. The papers used are all Papermania Sweet Nothings, including the little girl's dress. The ribbon and the sentiment stamp came free on the front of magazines. I used Anita's Gems to go round the sentiment and in the centre of the Papermania flower to reflect the spots in the background and on the dress. The pretty little girl is again a Sugar Nellie stamp from Funky Kits. She's from the new Gorjuss Girls set which I got on pre-order and will be available as a single girl in a few weeks.

Thanks for taking a look.
